A photo of me, Ajda, facing away from the camera in a beautiful autumin forest

About me

Hello and welcome to my website!

My name is Ajda. I was born in Ljubljana, Slovenia, and I have a PhD in Biomedicine with a background in biology.

Nature has always been my passion, especially spending time in the Julian Alps, exploring the emerald rivers, green pools,
and waterfalls, along with the area's diverse flora and fauna.

This love for nature is the source of my inspiration. I paint motifs based on photos taken by my partner or me during our hikes.
I primarily use acrylics for landscapes, while for flowers (which I also enjoy identifying), I use watercolors or gouache.

In an effort to be sustainable, I often repurpose materials like paper or cardboard from packaging
(chocolate boxes, appliance packaging, etc.) to paint on. However, I also work on canvas and cotton paper.

Additionally, I create wire-wrapped necklaces and earrings using pebbles I collect along the shores of the Soča River and its confluences.

Please take a moment to explore my gallery (more of my paintings can be seen on my Instagram profile),
and feel free to contact me if you have any questions or are interested in purchasing my artwork.

I am also happy to take commissions if you'd like me to paint from a photo of your choosing.
